Digital Printing Efficiency: Achieving High Transfer Rates in Sublimation Paper

In the textile digital printing industry, the most important metric for sublimation paper is the Transfer Rate. Standard paper might waste ink, but high-quality coated paper can achieve transfer rates of 93-95%.

How is this achieved during the manufacturing process?

1. The Coating Formula

It requires a high-molecular polymer coating that holds the ink on the surface rather than letting it soak into the fibers. This allows the ink to "sublimate" (turn to gas) easily onto the fabric when heated.

2. The "Eagle Type" Air Knife

Uniformity is everything. Advanced coating lines use an "Eagle type air knife." The precision-machined stainless steel lips (duckbill-shape) ensure the coating is perfectly even. This prevents mottling and ensures the ink dries flat.

3. Flattening the Curl

Sublimation paper is prone to curling effectively due to the heavy coating. A robust machine line incorporates a 4-cylinder finishing section and specialized drying methods to correct paper warpage, ensuring it runs smoothly through printers later.

Great paper starts with great machinery.
